Every day a camera 1.5 million km away photographs Earth more than a dozen times. This is the most recent set NASA has released, replayed as one rotation. Processing and release take a few days, so the newest frame is usually two to four days old — the panel below gives the exact age of the one on screen.

Because DSCOVR always sits between Earth and the Sun. From there it can only see the lit half — not because the camera picks its moment, but because of the geometry of where it stands. That is also why the day–night terminator never appears in these images, unlike those from low-orbit satellites.
Almost. The image combines three filters at 680 nm (red), 551 nm (green) and 443 nm (blue) — the same part of the spectrum the eye uses, but as three narrow bands rather than the full continuous range. The result is close to what a person at L1 would see, a little heavier on atmospheric blue.
One hemisphere only, and always the one facing the Sun at the moment of capture. Over a day Earth turns beneath the lens so the continents pass through in turn — but midnight is never visible. Following a specific spot on the ground needs a polar-orbiting satellite, not DSCOVR.
